Whilst in the Tenby area be sure to find time to explore the national award-winning Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, located up on Castle Hill. The museum has everything you could ever want to discover about local history from its geology to its maritime history. You can then explore the artwork in the galleries, which again concentrate on local talent.
Well worth a visit is the Tudor Merchant’s House on Quay Hill. This three-storey 15th century house has been beautifully restored by The National Trust to give visitors a clear view of exactly how the house would have looked when its original wealthy merchant owned it.
With Caldey Island just a short boat ride away from Tenby it makes for a great day out. Boats operate from Tenby Harbour every 20 minutes during the summer so it’s really easy to get there. Once you’ve arrived you can explore Calden Abbey, home of the perfume making Cistercian Monks, before taking a tour around this scenic little island with its beautiful beaches.
Those of you with a love of castles won’t be disappointed with a trip out to Carew Castle. Originally a Norman castle the building was later converted into an Elizabethan manor house. What’s more, it’s set on the edge of a 23-acre millpond and also boasts the only restored tidal mill in Wales.
Further fun can be had at the Folly Farm Adventure Park. With so much to choose from you won’t know whether to check out the animals first or the fun fair. Then there are the extensive play areas and various shows and demonstrations.
